Profiles

 

Profiles (frames) are as important a component of stretch technology products as the membrane. The type of profiles used depends on the nature of the task and the selected membrane material.

Profiles for PVC membranes

The choice of profiles for a PVC membrane is determined by the dimensions and layout of the membrane. Laqfoil typically uses four types of tracks:

Universal aluminum profiles are commonly used for rectangular installations or linear segments of installations that have a complex 2D shape, or the areas where installation method requires fastening profiles to either wall or ceiling. The length of the profiles is unlimited for practical purposes. They are about 1” high and can be attached to the wall, ceiling or a bulkhead of a room around the perimeter.

 

 

 

 

 

Wall aluminum profiles are commonly used for the small segments of a stretch installation’s perimeter that incorporate circular or more complex structural elements (moulding, alcoves, rounded room corners, etc.). Wall profiles are bent at the Laqfoil production facility using special equipment prior to their installation, according to an engineering drawing of the room in which they will be installed. Their length is unlimited for practical purposes and they have a height of about 1”. They can be attached to the wall of a room around the perimeter and can be seamlessly combined with linear fragments that use all other types of profiles.

 

 

 

 

Ceiling aluminum profiles have a similar area of application as all other profiles, i.e. long linear segments of the installation. They are used if the layer of air above the ceiling membrane must be reduced or if there is no need for the stronger and heavier universal profiles. Their length is also unlimited for practical purposes and their height is only 0.8” (20.07mm). They can be attached to the ceiling across the premises.

 

 

 

Separation aluminum profiles are used for connecting ceiling membrane stripes for large,  stretch technology installations that require additional support for the membrane. Such area usually exceeds 2,000 sq. feet. These profiles are used for linear junctions of ceiling   fragments, and are attached to the underlying structural elements of the area. They are ~0.7” high and have unlimited length. Separation aluminum profiles are also used in creation of 3D and multileveled structures.

 

 

 

 

These types of profiles are the most frequently used; Laqfoil also uses a variety of specialty profiles to deliver the maximum visual impact, long-term stability, and customer satisfaction for stretch structures.

 

Profiles for Canvas

Canvas membranes used for wide-format prints have a different weight, elasticity, and use different kinds of profiles than PVC membranes. The two following types of profiles are those most frequently used by Laqfoil for installing wide-format print structures for our customers.

Plastic (specialty PVC) AP profiles are used for linear segments of wide-format print structures, and provide for a very thin (under 0.4”) layer of air between the membrane and the ceiling or wall surface. The length of the profiles is unlimited. These profiles guarantee the stability of the wide format print surface in case of drafts, wind, etc. They are attached to the ceiling or wall by their wider side. The thin plastic membrane on the left of the profile seals the space between the wall and the profile, and prevents the accumulation of dust, moisture, and bacteria. The profiles can be bent using special molds at the Laqfoil production facility.

 

 

 Plastic AM profiles are used for installations that require to accommodate the additional space, or filling between the structural elements of the house, and wide format print. One of the most common applications for these profiles is the acoustic enhancement of a room and the use of sound suppression materials. The profiles can be bent using special molds at the Laqfoil production facility. Similarly to AP profiles, a thin plastic membrane on the left of the profile seals the space between the wall and the profile, and prevents the accumulation of dust, moisture, and bacteria.  The length of the profile is unlimited.

 

 

 

 

Similarly to the installation of PVC membranes, specialty profiles from the Laqfoil inventory can be used for complex shapes of wide-format prints.
